LAAS Statement on Jeremy Corbyn’s Reported Comments Regarding the EHRC

Regarding comments made by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in Middle East Eye (‘Jeremy Corbyn questions impartiality of EHRC antisemitism inquiry’) Euan Philipps, spokesperson for Labour Against Antisemitism, said:

“Attempts by Jeremy Corbyn to undermine the authority of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and its investigation into institutional anti-Jewish racism in the Labour Party are unacceptable.

By apparently appearing to invent a bizarre conspiracy theory about Conservative underfunding of this independent and highly-respected body Mr Corbyn has once again brought the Labour Party into disrepute.

As the largest provider of evidence to the investigation, LAAS urges Keir Starmer to issue a statement reiterating his support for the EHRC and for the findings of its investigation.”
